What does it mean to be bolder?

Being bolder means letting out the person you’re truly meant to be and bravely pushing yourself to shine. Too many folks apologize for who they are, self-impose limitations, and waste time living from “shoulds” that don’t suit them. If you let go of playing by rules that don’t align with your aims, values, or ways of doing things, you can play powerfully on your own terms.

What makes you bold?

I’m down to earth and am atypically open with people. My wins, failures, emotions, insights – it’s built into my way of being to share freely with others. I used to think it was weird, but now I see how it helps all our clients because they’re able to get much more comfortable with many more dimensions of themselves. I also have a good sense of humor about myself.

What’s your favorite word and why?

CHOICE! Difficult emotions like fear can prompt us to feel and believe that we are helpless in a variety of situations where that’s not so. I used to spend a lot of time playing the blame game and making excuses for not playing fully into this precious life. Having gotten out of my own way, I know with certainty that we can 100% learn to create options and make choices where we think we cannot. I’m committed to helping people get out of their own way, to create choices for themselves and play who they really are.

What skills do you bring to The Bolder Company?

I’m mad for designing curriculum! I love taking exercises, games, conversations and more from all the disciplines we use – Applied Improvisation, Facilitation, Liberating Structures, Coaching – and making great learning experiences for people. Knowledge is only one piece of the picture, I’m out to have people take on new ways and habits of Thinking, Feeling, Being and Doing. That’s where all the true and permanent growth takes people to powerful places, they didn’t think they could go.

What’s your customer experience super-power?

Listening, staying present, and being direct. Clients always tell me “oh my gosh, you just get me!” and appreciate that I don’t sugar-coat what I’m hearing them say, whether I’m facilitating, coaching, or consulting. Most of us want honest, useful feedback so we can grow, and I take it very seriously to be a source of that for our clients, no matter what their role in a group is.
